Big law flameout to right-wing pundit pipeline

There seems to be a pattern of former BigLaw washouts becoming obnoxious right-wing pundits. Will Chamberlain and Ben Shapiro are the most obvious examples. They lasted only a handful of months at Quinn and Goodwin respectively before presumably being shown the door. Both complained about the alleged woke culture at their firms and ended up at right-wing think tanks. Shapiro even recounted getting yelled at for screwing up doc review, then lied about the firm trying to stop him from leaving. Recall no firm in 2009 was trying to hold onto junior associates during that bloodbath. There are also older examples like Laura Ingraham, Mike Davis, and Josh Hammer.

Is there a connection? My theory is that if your worldview is so distorted by extreme ideology, you can't see things as they are and that makes you a terrible lawyer. These people can only succeed in the right-wing propaganda industry, where their views are never seriously challenged. Sure, there are plenty of successful BigLaw lawyers with right-wing views, but those people either know they're selling bullshit, or their views aren't nearly as rigid as they let on and understand their roles as mercenaries.
