Blew a deadline

I blew a deadline big time and it’s going to show up on bills. Partner sent me something to review around the fourth of JULY, completely forgot about it, sent the client an update, forgot AGAIN (I am ashamed, no excuse, but had heavy family stuff going on and then also was on the M&A deal from hell) and just now got it out. It was a pretty simple agreement, but it fell off my to-do list with a ton of high-priority things going on.

Worst part is, someone pinged me for my performance earlier this week, and this partner went to bat for me saying I’ve been overworked/working really hard. And I had removed him from the email chain when sending that initial update but now that that’s the thread I sent the doc back in (didn’t think twice about that) it looks sneaky as hell. He’s going to review the bills and see that it took me a month to do this; is it worth bringing up, especially because I had been pinged earlier this week, or do I let it go?

A bit of context: I’m a new lateral from non-biglaw, so the pace adjustment has been tough. The ping about my performance was the first “constructive” (negative) feedback I’d gotten (and it was about an issue that also stemmed directly from being spread thin), and over the course of the last two weeks (the weeks where I forgot the second time) I have been working past 1am for around 10/14 days, including the weekends. I want to take ownership of this and nip this whole thing in the bud, but unsure if I should call attention to it.
