Matching the US in hours or close to (most colleagues bill 1900-2100hrs, with about 30% exceeding 2200) for 1/3 of the pay (starting is $95k USD) with all of the similar expectations about being constantly online and cramming as many files & deals as possible.
Differing from the US, we are “promised” partnership in lieu of the ridiculously high salaries, since many firms have proportionately many more partners relative to the US (some firms having ratios of more partners than associates). However, many of them are non-equity and operates as a sham to keep a golden carrot for associates who, in the vast majority of cases, will leave biglaw before 5yrs of practice.
Just an exhausted junior looking to rant. Back to billing, thx.
