can anyone speak to the bank reg/finreg practice (in DC or NY)? From conversations with one associate, it seems like a combination of very cerebral work, steady hours, and a nice blend of working with both traditional banks and new fangled fintech stuff. And apparently the Fed/occ pay incredibly well (can reach 250-300k+??) if you ever want to leave a firm, not to mention the countless banks and fintechs that now need regulatory counsel. What’s the catch? Is it really boring in practice or something? Or really hard to crack into? Is agency experience valued/required to stay longer term? I didn’t know this practice even existed before talking to this alum, so very curious (I knew about securities reg lawyers but not bank reg)
