Has anyone here been irresponsible with their money and eventually turned things around?

This is mostly inspired by that (troll?) post from an associate with no savings

I’m a first year (rising second year, I guess—I started fall 2025). I’ve been working in biglaw for a year and, financially, have very little to show for it. I live in a VHCOL city and have $200k+ in loans, which partially is to blame, but also I’ve been admittedly very stupid with my money, having gone on a lavish vacation and also having made some dumb luxury purchases (not a car or anything like that—I just mean clothes, nice furniture, nice dinners, things of that sort). I lived very frugally all through college and law school, and wasn’t wealthy growing up, so I sort of went nuts when I could finally splurge. It would be an exaggeration to say I live paycheck to paycheck, but I also burn through my paychecks recklessly and thoughtlessly

I don’t have $0 in savings but my savings are also embarrassingly low

I’m ready to turn things around, and am just curious if anyone here has gone through something similar?
