I am a 1L (29F) in the full swing of big law recruiting. I have 1 year old twins. I feel like I can’t get a straight answer out of anyone if I should even try big law with my kids. I may also want more kids so it’s not a guarantee that I’ll only have these 2 when I actually get to big law.
I get that obviously people in big law have kids, but most people I talk to didn’t have kids until they’re like a senior associate so they’ve had a few years to prove their chops before they need to bow out early for after school pickup. Also my husband is in the military so he’s often not around to help. We do have a support system but obviously it’s not the same as mom and dad, and there’s only so much parenting at a young age that I can outsource. Can I be an excellent mother like I want to be while being in big law?
