Im out - going to a boutique

It’s been real, y’all, but it’s time for me to leave.

I gave notice yesterday, and people were shocked. I’m the fifth midlevel in our litigation group to resign within about a month. Turns out that’s what happens when you allow people to scream at others whenever they’re upset.

My uncle also passed away recently, far too young. That put a lot into perspective. Life is too short to spend it somewhere you don’t want to be. I’m leaving for a boutique firm, and honestly, I’m really looking forward to it.

Almost immediately after giving notice, I got invited to a meeting with HR (who do not adore me) and two partners from our group I barely worked with. So we’ll see what that’s about. I also got a nice little jab from a senior along the lines of: “If you produce the same quality of work there, they’ll fire you within a month or two.”

As parting words: be kind to others. It’s just a job, and you only get so many summers.
