Informal PIP for low hours - stories?

Has anyone at a V50 had a sit down with partners at which you were scolded for low hours, were given X # of days to improve, and that meeting turned out to be anything but a kiss of death regardless of what you did in the upcoming X days?

Just curious as to whether those sorts of meetings carry the undertone that you’ll certainly be fired in X days and are more of a formality, or if your reputation is already so shot that you shouldn’t stay even if you don’t get fired.

Would love to hear any applicable stories.
