While everyone is talking about Weil, I read a comment on how a significant portion of Kirkland & Ellis’ client base is centralized in private equity, and they would struggle to maintain their large non equity head count in case of a major PE downturn.
Kirkland is obviously well known for PE advising, but I’m wondering whether they have the infrastructure to stay afloat or offset their losses in other practices like rx. With exits in the doldrums and private credit LPs continuing to withdraw, a firm built on continued PE returns looks like a house of cards.
Thoughts?
