Is the Milbank match with no back pay even worth it?

Seems like most firms will continue to announce this month with most matches going into effect on January 1, and very few are announcing back pay.

I’m not a first year associate, thankfully I’ve survived to become a mid level where I’m paid a bit more fairly, but I couldn’t help but feel screwed if I was a stub year this year.

I’m seeing about a 3.7% inflation rate year over year from October 2025 to September 2025. So really this is nothing but a cost of living increase. 235k in 2027 is like 225k in 2026. Really unfortunate for any juniors who have to pay back loans, find an apartment or are thinking about home ownership in the future.
