No one here is going to believe this is real, but it is, and I’m stunned and not really sure how to proceed.
I’m a mid-senior associate, and our firm represents some big business in the fruit trade. We’re closing a massive deal, and it involves some pretty sizeable inventories of fruit, as well as ongoing trades of new fruit as it’s harvested.
One of our juniors got staffed to this deal to help with some very minor checklist items. Now, this guy has somewhat of a reputation in our office, he routinely takes DOZENS of bananas from the break room, and we’ve already told him twice to leave some for others.
I shit you not, this guy emails the whole client deal chain. He ASKS IF WE CAN ADD A TERM FOR A PALLET OF BANANAS TO BE DELIVERED TO THE OFFICE. He lists his own office number as the proposed address.
No one has responded yet. What’s my role here? Do I raise the issue with the partner on the deal myself? HR? Any advice would be appreciated.
