Is this a career killer? Will anyone offer me a job if I take it? I am genuinely losing my mind (sobbing uncontrollably in the office, genuinely losing any sense of myself, worrying friends and family). I’m a rising third year at a v10 who is going to probably come in at over 3K.
Every day is 6AM-2AM, and I’m still missing deadlines left and right. I am the only associate on a few of my deals, so I’m likely making mistakes and no one looks at my work or gives any kind of guidance for anything I do. I just tried to take a vacation and ended up working 15 hour days in Europe the whole time because my group has no bench to cover me.
I tried to tell the firm I was struggling, but they gave me lip service and sneakily staffed me on more deals without telling me. I tried to say no and they said “we’ll staff someone near your class so don’t think it will be a lift”. I am constantly told I am not moving fast enough by clients and colleagues alike.
I genuinely feel like a trapped animal and am really worried about my own well being. Would taking mental health leave ruin my chances of being hired elsewhere?
