I work in big law and have over it for a while now. My partner and I just had our 3rd child a few weeks ago, and I am currently on a 3.5 month leave as my firm provides that as part of our benefits. I have been burnt out and unhappy at work and have no personal aspirations for staying to become a partner. I have known I want to quit for a while but I purposely put it off as I knew the child was coming and I wanted to have the extended leave (one of the few benefits we get) at my high salary (I will have to take a pay cut when I leave big law). I plan on looking for a new job during leave and hopefully have one lined up by the time I go back. Is it really bad to stay for 2 weeks - 1 month after my leave and then tell them I am quitting? I get I may be screwing them over but I’ve been at big law long enough to see these firms screw many many associates over. For some additional background I mostly like all of the partners I work with and there is only 1 other associate around my level in our group at the moment.
