Why do people act so personally offended when you leave a firm? The number of grown adults that have been so critical, rude, and dismissive since I have announced my departure has me feeling like I’m a scorned ex.
Associates AND partners with whom I’ve had “close” and positive personal interactions with have either ignored my personal messages thanking them for all the good times/asking to keep in touch, or merely respond with short with statements like “Thanks. That’s disappointing.”
Someone please dumb it down on why people act like moving firms is a crime (or tell me your favorite petty post resignation story)!
Editing to say: I am not offended by this behavior. I find it humorous. This post is mainly to heehee it up with my peers on how stupid this type of energy is!
