I’m a 9th year associate in a lit dept at a big law firm. I was recently told I will likely make partner this year (fingers crossed, not assuming it will happen). We generally make partners without regard for business generation, and you get the first \~3 years to ramp up business generation, but I am terrified I will never be able to make it work. We have fewer institutional clients than you might think. I’ve even thought of just transitioning to in house after making partner to avoid failing at this. I know the fear is likely an over reaction, but I would appreciate any advice or help.
