Is it a bad look to turn down work from counsel if you’re light on hours?
I’m a first-year associate and could use a sanity check.
A counsel in another office reached out to see if I had capacity for a matter. I worked with him once before, and it was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had so far. He was rude, dismissive, and just generally unpleasant to work with. Nothing that would rise to the level of reporting, but enough that I’d really prefer not to work with him again.
I’m not currently hitting hours, but that is expected for first years and I’m definitely trending upwards in terms of work and staying busy.
I still wouldn’t say I’m so busy to the point where I’d turn down work from anyone else. Just can’t stand this guy.
