Are people really that greedy or am I missing something…
There are so many partners I’ve met who already make millions of dollars each year, have been a partner for 10+ years, have their mansion houses paid off, don’t need to work at all another second. They have generational wealth.
Yet they still care about getting more and more. Politicking to outshine other partners, get more share of the pay, use associates like tools. If their firm doesn’t pay as much as another they jump ship. They still skip family functions, birthdays, holidays, etc. So much unnecessary stress.
I don’t get what the point is. If I got to $2.5 million in wealth, I’d quit law and work a lot less stressful job. Spend more time with family and friends. Pick up a hobby. If I stayed at the firm I’d let others get more pay, even do special bonuses to associates for job well done. I’d be done chasing money cause at a certain point things would be set. The returns on the invested amount would be 125k+ per year alone..
For partners here who are still elbowing your way to the top despite being a partner for 10+ years, why do you do it?
