I've frequently been thinking of/ panicking about this recently. It seems like the tools have scarily improved over the past two years and even the past 6 months where they are starting to have better judgement and drafting and match how I have practiced and seen experienced lawyers practice. I know as AI grows advising on experience will become more of the true value add for clients but it really seems like we are all just waiting for a horrible massive change that overhauls the entire practice of law at the expense of associates. Even partners I talk to seem incredibly worried and uncertain about the future.
I know that we often lament the dangers of AI but I can't help but feel like we are all ignoring the serious and seemingly imminent danger it is posing to all of our livelihoods? This job totally sucks and now having to constantly worry about keeping a job I don't even like and think is generally bad for the soul is making it so much worse. I wish I could go back to four years ago when everyone felt a lot more secure about this industry and the future. The only thing bringing me a semblance of comfort is that if we all become obsolete then most of corporate America must be too. Anyways I need to start saving $.
