Long story short, I’m leaving because of a number reasons, mostly to do with my firm’s culture. It has nothing to do with my performance, as I have already met my billable hour goal and consistently get exceeds expectations on performance reviews. I am even often added to large transactions for my group’s leader and told they value my expertise. Unfortunately, I just don’t think I’m a good fit anymore due to some things that have happened (and not all to me). Firm leadership has assured me they value me, blah blah blah. I began exploring the job market about a month ago and just received an offer for a job I really want last Friday.
As the title suggests, I accepted the offer. We are meeting tomorrow to go over the onboarding and conflicts process.
Since I began exploring other opportunities, I have found it difficult to concentrate. I am sure you can all relate, but I feel like I’m failing somehow. This month I’ve billed 150 hours, which I know isn’t bad but I do have work to complete. I think I just am ready to begin transitioning my matters to other people. I know I can’t quit until conflicts clear. Any advice? What did you do when you were in that weird period where you’re waiting for conflicts to clear? Did you slow down too?
